SKU: LDRW986 Category:

Region: Eola-Amity Hills, Oregon
Grape: Dolcetto
Winemaking: Organic vineyards, hand-harvested, native yeast, 10 month aging in steel and neutral oak with open barrels
Food pairings: Salmon, mac and cheese, meat or pasta dishes with black truffle

Description: The Italians like to say “Dolcetto is wine for talking and Nebbiolo is wine for thinking”. The point being that Dolcetto is a fresh tasting grape that is meant to be enjoyed playfully and not to be overanalyzed. That said, this one shied away from conversation at first. But less than an hour after my first sip yielded a tight bitterness and carambola-like acidity, the bouquet had evolved into blackberry bush, green coffee bean, black pepper and nectarine. The tannins were delicate and yet persistent. By the end of the bottle I was overjoyed with the complexity and chugability (my favorite fake word) of this delicious Dolcetto. Pro tip: open this one early and taste its evolution over a long period of time. Maybe enjoy it with cheddar popcorn while binge watching a new show. This is great wine for when you’re not going anywhere for the night – which these days is most of the time…
