Villa Venti Serenaro Region: Rubicone, Italy Grape: famoso di cesena Winemaking: organic, biodynamic, natural yeast, aged in stainless steel Food pairing: goat cheese, clam chowder, frog legs, and pickled fish (especially herring) Description: The famoso di Cesena is an almost unknown grape variety that was for many years believed extinct. Two old rows of these vines were re-discovered on this vineyard in the early 2000s. Previously this grape varietal was grown in the area as a table grape – its name, famoso, is derived from the regional dialect sfamare, ‘to relieve hunger’. Vernacular aside, this bright wine makes me want to enjoy food! It will fill your senses with notes of white flowers, cotton and mango, with a very tangy palate that reminds me of olive oil, lemon juice, and mineral salt.
